Facebook is launching a new feature on Facebook, called Instant Articles. Instant Articles will let you read news and stories on Facebook News Feed. You don’t have to go to the website to read full stories.
Facebook said that it’s a big time-consuming within clicking the link on Facebook to go website. Facebook’s new features let news and media to publish on Facebook. Facebook is working with nine launch partners for Instant Articles: The New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed, NBC, The Atlantic, The Guardian, BBC News, Spiegel and Bild. News companies will also be able to monetize on Facebook by having ads.
Media companies will have full control over news. It means that however people are reporting on the news, it’s on decision of news and media whether to take it down or not. Many Myanmar news and media are publishing news and stories on their Facebook pages in full version even though it’s not the right way to. So now, as Facebook is offering full story feature, it can become a great opportunity for Myanmar and other countries where internet speed is too slow.
On the other hand, many internet experts are thinking if it would become the replacement of websites. I also wonder for the day media will just publish articles on Facebook and not going to website anymore. I saw that NY Time editor said that it’s just a trailing. NY Times will surely drive traffic to website. However, many changes are happening. I’m not sure if it would become the revolution of news and media.
