YANGON, 4 FEBRUARY 2016 – AEC English Centre was officially launched in Yangon by His Excellency Nicholas Coppel, Australia’s Ambassador to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
AEC English Centre is founded on the latest thinking in language learning, to assist Myanmar students develop the English capabilities needed for successful international study and careers. It has been established in partnership with UTS:INSEARCH, which is the English language provider for the University of Technology Sydney.
Managed by a native-English speaking Director of Studies, Ms Theresa Mattingly, AEC English Centre offers a new campus situated in Yangon’s Central Business District. Classrooms are equipped to an international-standard, and all course materials can be accessed in digital format online or via e-books which feature interactive games and exercises to encourage and help students learn faster.
“At AEC English Centre, we have created the ideal learning environment for students who aspire to study overseas,” said Ms Theresa Mattingly, Director of Studies, AEC English Centre.
“We have excellent, highly-qualified and experienced teachers, a fully digital curriculum and strong partnerships with international institutions that are a direct pathway to world-class overseas education for Myanmar students,” said Ms Theresa Mattingly. “The result is that we can now teach international university-level English right here at our Yangon centre.”
AEC English Centre, is the exclusive provider of UTS:INSEARCH Academic English in Myanmar. The curriculum, developed by Masters-qualified and Cambridge University-accredited teachers, involved an investment of US$1.7 million.
“The curriculum used by AEC English Centre is purpose-built for ambitious students planning on studying at university or intending to work in an international context,” said Managing Director of UTS:INSEARCH, Mr Alex Murphy.
The lessons replicate the teaching and learning style typical of universities abroad, so students develop critical skills such as presentation techniques, assignment and exam strategies, and tools to help them navigate living and working overseas.
“AEC English Centre teachers will use the latest technology and approaches in language learning to help students develop and embed university-level English skills,” said Mr Alex Murphy.
The success of the curriculum and teaching approach is shown by more than 8,000 students each year who choose UTS:INSEARCH Academic English to prepare for university. The curriculum is taught at UTS:INSEARCH’s campus in Sydney, and also delivered through education partners in China, Indonesia, Korea and Vietnam.
By successfully completing the applicable courses at AEC English Centre, students can satisfy the English language requirements for entry into degrees at international universities, such as the University of Technology Sydney, Shanghai University, Macquarie University, University of Wollongong, Western Sydney University, University of Newcastle and Griffith University.
